CV of professor Vladimir Lipunov

Lipunov Vladimir Mikhailovich born in 1952, August 17 in Amur region
(Russia). Graduated from the Moscow State University in 1976; in 1976
-- 1979 worked at the Main Astronomical Observatory of the
Ukrainian Academy of Sciences (Kiev). Studied as a post-graduated
student at the Moscow State University (1979--1982) under supervision
of Acad. Prof. Ya.B.Zel'dovich. PhD in astrophysics (1982):
"Accretion onto magnetized compact objects". In 1981--1992 was
assistant professor at the Astronomical division of the Physics
Department of the Moscow State University. Doctor of Science Thesis
in 1991 "Evolution and astrophysical appearances of neutron stars".

Since 1993 -- Full Professor
in astronomy of Moscow State University. During the last 15 years he
gives two lecture courses at Astronomy Division of Physical
Department of Moscow University:

-"Theoretical Astrophysics" (for fourth year students)

-"Astrophysics of Neutron Stars and Black Holes" (for fourth year
         students)

and gives seminar on "General Astropysics" (for third year
students).

He was the supervisor of 7 postgraduated students who sucsesfully
presented PhD thesises. Now he is a supervisor of 2 post-graduated
students.

In 1986, together with Prof. D.Ya.Martinov
published a textbook "Problemes on general astrophysics".

Since 1981 and up to the present time, he has worked at the
Moscow University (Physical Department) and at the
Department of
Relativistic Astrophysics of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute as
leading researcher.

Principal
scientific interests lie in the field of relativistic
and high energy astrophysics (neutron stars, black holes,
astrophysical sources of gravitational waves and
observational appearances of late stages of
binary stellar evolution). Published more than 100 papers in
Russian and foreign journals and 3 monographs. Principal scientific
results are summarized in the monograph "Astrophysics of Neutron Stars"
(Springer Verlag, 1992).

He constantly participates in international symposia
as an invited speaker.

He was the Principal Investigator of the several international
grants.
